What is a video driver?

video driver Video drivers are small computer programs that allow the communication between your PC's software, operating system and video cards. They take the generic commands from your software and turn them into specific instructions the video cards can understand.
Video cards are also known as graphics cards, graphics accelerators cards and display adapters. If they are integrated into the computer's mainboard, video cards are sometimes referred to as a video controller or graphics controller.
